Neglected Taplow
The area by Maidenhead Bridge has for some time now been the scene of neglect. The slipway, too, is suffering and since it is owned by the council they should be taking some action to enforce a clear-up there as well. In addition, there are signs all over the village of local authority workmen who just walk off, leaving behind their roadsigns, cones, warnings and barriers. Who has the responsibility to make sure the Council clear up their mess when they leave? The dreadful mess at the slipway site adjacent to a Grade 1 listed building gives a clear message that the Council have little interest in the appearance of our Parish to visitors. The road repair kit left on the pavement has been lying around for a very long time. The state of the Brunel Bridge also is a cause for concern, despite being listed as a potential World Heritage site. Is this the English malaise at work? Do we no longer care for our heritage? - or is this the end result of what appears to be a relentless assault by the government to undermine anything British? The Old Slipway :
