Wheelie bins come to Taplow

Following a pilot scheme in Beaconsfield, Taplow is one of the first areas in South Bucks to get "Wheelie Bins". This is all part of the drive to recycle more and to reduce landfill, though the size of the bins might suggest that they want you to generate more waste than ever before!

The colourful leaflets describing the scheme have many words and pictures, but none showing an actual wheelie bin. For the benefit of those who have not met them before, here are some pictures of the bins:

Large and small wheelie bins, with small food-waste bin and even smaller "kitchen caddy":

Jane could almost hide in the big one:

Most households will get two of the large bins (one grey, one green) and a kitchen caddy. For many people the big bins are not needed so you can ask for smaller ones. If you don't need to dispose of garden waste you may prefer the very small green bin shown in the second picture.

When are we going to get wheelie bins for plastic waste? I think it is the right time to introduce doorstep collections and recycling for plastic!
