We are absolutely delighted to announce that the appeal by the National Trust and Countryside for the building of 191 units at Cliveden has been turned down by the Inspector and the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister. The reasons given for the rejection of the appeal were so strongly worded that it is unlikely, but not impossible, that the National Trust will appeal the application for 170 units. They still have permission to build 135 units with an over 55 year old in each unit. As you are aware this Society, amongst others, has been fighting both the 191 and the 170 proposal for a long time and we would like to thank all those who supported us in our campaign.

Work started

Work started in June 2006 to improve the sight-lines on Cliveden Road in preparation for the main building works.

Progress update April 2007

Building of the 135 unit age-restricted ownership scheme began in October 2006 and a show house is expected to be ready this summer. The development is being marketed by The Frost Partnership estate agents who have all the details of the houses and flats.

Progress update May 2011

Building work stopped after the completion of the first phase due to the global recession. Work has now started on the second phase, but there are suggestions that it may not be built to the same standards.
