THE SOUTH EAST PLAN - WHAT IT MEANS FOR SOUTH BUCKS
--
EvaLipman - 26 Sep 2005
The South East England Regional Assembly has decided that the SE should build 28,900 new housing units per year from 2006 - 2026. Unfortunately the government has decided that more units are needed. This means that in South Bucks we now need to build a minimum of 94 new units per year. We are apparently very fortunate in that we have the least minimum build imposed upon our Authority. On the other hand South Bucks is amongst the smallest Local Authorities and does have a large proportion of Green Belt within it.
South Bucks District Council are at the moment preparing their Core Strategy which will give South Bucks an over arching policy for the next twenty years. This will cover various issues such as housing including affordable housing, employment land, shopping, green belt, town centres, density and character, the ageing population, etc. This will go out for consultation in May 2008.
It will be submitted to Government for examination late 2009.
If all goes to plan it will be adopted in June 2010
It is only after the adoption that the individual Local Development Frameworks can be drawn up.
